Is a Kenya safari still a good idea with everything going on in the world right now?

When an economy depends on visitors returning safely and telling their friends to come, safety isn't a talking point, it's the thing the entire industry is built to protect. Every safari booked reinforces that, supporting the conservancies, communities, and people whose livelihoods depend on travelers having a good experience and going home to say so.

Will I actually see animals?

A safari isn't a zoo. No one can promise a lion on schedule. What we can promise is this: if your eyes are open, there is always something to see.

What are my flight options, and how long is the flight?

Our lawyers advise us not to book your flights. Our instinct is to talk through your best options anyway. Dulles and JFK are the two departure points Lutricia has the most experience with. Either of these or any other international airport depends on where you're starting and how many connections you're willing to make.

Other tour companies let me choose from preset itineraries. Why don't you?

Three nights at a property with one included game drive. A day or two in the city. An upcharge if you want more time on game drives. We don't build safaris that way. Every itinerary starts with a conversation, not a menu.

Why only Kenya, when other companies offer multi-country tours?

We do one country, deeply. Kenya alone holds enough wildlife, culture, and history for a lifetime of return trips. Breadth isn't the same as depth. Besides, we're not here to be travel agents. We're Kenya experts with intimate knowledge of the country, both from having worked with safari adventurers for 30 years (Anthony), and having traveled from US to Kenya over 7 times (Lutricia).

You're newer than other tour operators. Why should I book with you?

Anthony has cared for clients from arrival to departure for over 30 years. He filed the business name in Kenya in 2012. Complete Safaris in the US is under five years old. In that short time Lutricia has been to Kenya more than seven times. We use many of the same properties as established operators. On our end though, every itinerary is built from your conversation with us, not a route the last client took, or a minimum booking threshold we have to maintain with a specific property.

Eyes Open

A woman who recently completed her third trip to Alaska told us she hadn't seen near as many animals on this last trip as the previous two. She was asking, gently, whether Kenya would be different. It might be. It might not be. What we told her is the same thing we'll tell you: nature doesn't perform on request.

During one of Lutricia's trips in fall 2025, during a hot afternoon, the big animals weren't showing. We started noticing the guinea fowl, red billed hornbill (Zazu in The Lion King) and even a small owl. It took looking differently, but the beauty of the savannah was still there to be seen.
