When Anthony first received an email from former clients wanting to provide testimonials for our fledgling safari business, we were naturally thrilled. Positive word-of-mouth is gold for any new venture, especially in the travel industry where trust is everything.
What I couldn't have anticipated was how responding to that email would transform our entire business approach.
After thanking these kind clients for their glowing testimonials, I mentioned that, as a new business owner, I was researching best practices for leveraging client feedback effectively.
The response changed everything: "I manage a large SCORE chapter. Would you like to be matched with a business coach?"

The Hidden Network of Support
I had heard of SCORE vaguely but had no idea how this free mentorship program for entrepreneurs could impact our business trajectory. I immediately said yes and was matched with Cliff, a seasoned business professional whose guidance continues to shape Complete Safaris' development.

The most valuable resources for entrepreneurs often come through unexpected connections rather than formal channels. That casual mention of SCORE in an email exchange has provided more business value than many paid services could offer.
More importantly, this experience taught me the power of approaching entrepreneurship with an "open, listening mind." The willingness to admit what I don't know and seek guidance has accelerated our business development in ways self-reliance never could.
